Unlock Gemini Deep Research: 6 Expert Tips

We announced last week that Deep Research is now available to anyone who wants to try. Deep Research had previously been available only to Gemini Advanced subscribers. This change makes the tool more accessible for a wider range of people.
1. Deep Research: Determine if your project requires it
Aarush believes Deep Research is especially useful for anything that requires a lot of browsing. Mukund says, "Think about it as a tool that helps you to go from zero understanding a topic deeply." Deep Research is not necessary if you need an immediate, quick answer to your question.
2. Simple questions to start with
Aarush says that just because you're doing "Deep" Research, it doesn't mean that you have to spend hours on your original prompt. Don't overthink. You can adjust your question and Deep Research will let you change its research plan before it even starts.
3. Ask follow-up questions
Aarush recommends asking follow-up queries. Add your question in the chat window and Deep Research can either answer it instantly based on its research or return to the internet to find out more.
4. Deep Research will be working while you can visit interesting links
You'll be able to see the websites that Deep Research is using by selecting either of these options. These options show the websites that Deep Research uses; "Sites Browsed" just displays them in a list, without any additional information.
5. Deep Research can help you with local questions
Aarush explains that Deep Research is great at finding local information and hyper-local searches. Deep Research is a great tool to use if you're looking to find out more about the community, or to find local businesses for a home project. Asking Deep Research to plan an event like a birthday or dinner party and seeing how it digs into local resources for you is another good use case.
6. Export your report as a doc or generate an audio overview
Introduced Audio Overviews to NotebookLM to allow users to listen to AI hosts review and discuss information they uploaded. Now they are available for Deep Research. Once your report has been completed, you will see a toggle on the right side with several options. One of them is to create an Audio Overview. This is a podcast style discussion about your report.
